Tariq holds a BSc. In Electrical and Computer Engineering from The University of the West Indies (UWI), where he graduated at the top of his specialization, communications systems, with first class honours, and where he is currently pursuing his MPhil in the same field. He is currently a consultant radio engineer for the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), on a regional project focused on maritime telecommunications; and serves as one of ITU’s Generation Connect Youth Envoy for the Americas.

Born and raised in Trinidad and Tobago, Tariq has an avid interest in using his skills to provide service to the people, tackling national, regional and international issues such as digital exclusion and ICT inaccessibility through multi-dimensional approaches spanning technical and social domains. His interests also include the development of enabling policies and regulations to create a more inclusive digital future, which can be used and enjoyed by all.
