Aliyah Hamid obtained her B.Sc. Mathematics (double major) with a minor in Economics at the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine. She is currently pursuing her M.Sc. Mathematics, having completed 9 graduate-level courses and is presently working on her thesis in an area of pure mathematics. Aliyah holds the position of Statistician I at the Central Statistical Office (CSO) of Trinidad and Tobago. Her main role is to calculate the annual and quarterly Gross Domestic Product (GDP) for economic sectors such as Education, Human Health, Arts/Culture/Entertainment and Domestic Services. While her primary interest lies in the field of pure mathematics, she is eager to expand her knowledge and skills in data science. Recognizing the increasing importance of data-driven decision-making, she aims to explore this exciting and rapidly evolving field. Beyond her professional pursuits, Aliyah is a cinephile who enjoys immersing herself in the world of film. She also finds joy in baking, chess, and solving puzzles.
